Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow starts rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7
Samsung's premium Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 has finally started receiving Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. The over-the-air (OTA) update is available for carrier unlocked variants of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 in Germany.
Surprisingly, it took more than 6 months for the update to land on one of the Samsung’s most popular tablet offering to date. The flagship tablet will now get the latest version of Google’s Android operating system.
Currently the firmware version T815XXU2BPD6 is being rolled out to users of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 (SM- T815), which has 4G LTE connectivity. The customers in Germany would be one of the first lucky users to receive the software update.
The eligible Tab S2 users would be automatically receiving notifications. If not, users can also manually check for updates. Go to Settings > About device > Software update menu.

Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will bring in typical features like advanced app permissions, Doze mode and Google Now on Tap. The firmware update will also introduce 200 new emojis and an improved UI for quick settings toggles.
The latest Android update released to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 would also incorporate April’s monthly security patch.
According to SamMobile, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update will come with support for APIs (Android’s Nexus Imprint) for faster fingerprint unlocking and customisable lock screen shortcuts.
The firmware update will also bring in multi-user mode to Samsung’s premium tablet. Samsung is yet to roll out the Android Marshmallow update to the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0.
In the meantime, from April 22, Sprint started pushing the Marshmallow update to Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S5 Sport. According to the changelog, the OTA will be rolled out in a staggered manner and will be completed by May 2, 2016.
