Following in the footsteps of other high-end Android phones like Samsung's Galaxy Nexus and Motorola's Droid Razr, HTC has thrown its hat in the ring with its HTC Rezound. Although Samsung hasn't announced when the Galaxy Nexus will be released both the Droid Razr and Rezound are already out in the market. Both the Droid Razr and Rezound cost $299 and the Galaxy Nexus is also rumored to cost the same, so price really isn't a consideration here. To help you decide you what smartphone is right for you, here's a breakdown of each smartphones features and how they match up against each other.

Design

All three phones are gorgeous looking devices. The Galaxy Nexus is a curvier phone with very round angles. The Droid Razr like its name suggests is all straight lines and edges. The Rezound is a nice combination of the two with nice rounded corners and a slightly curved back.

Motorola has the distinction of being the thinnest smartphone in the market today. The Galaxy Nexus is a little thicker than the Droid Razr at 0.35 inches thick to the Droid Razr's 0.28 inches. The Rezound is the thickest phone of the three at 0.54 inches. If you're looking for an ultrathin phone, the Droid Razr is the most obvious choice.

Hardware Specs

All three phones have dual core processors. The HTC Rezound has a slight edge here as it runs on 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor that's a bit faster than the Droid Razr and the Galaxy Nexus' 1.2 Ghz processor. All three have the same 1 Gb of RAM. In terms of storage, all three phones have similar specs. The Droid Razr and HTC Rezound have 16Gb of internal storage but also offer an additional microSD storage slot for expansion. The Galaxy Nexus doesn't have the external storage capability and only has 16Gb or 32Gb internal storage.

Display

The HTC Rezound has one of the best displays in a smartphone and more than holds its own against the other two. The Rezound has a 4.3 inch Super LCD display with 720p resolution. Samsung's Galaxy Nexus also has 720p resolution but it has a huge 4.65 inch Super AMOLED HD screen. The Droid Razr lags a bit with a 4.3 inches screen size and 960x540 resolution on its Super AMOLED screen.

Software

One of the biggest selling points of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is that it will be the first Android phone to have the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Other Android phones will get the same update sometime in 2012. Both the Droid Razr and HTC Rezound will launch with the Gingerbread OS but users can wait to get the Ice Cream Sandwich. HTC and Motorola does add their own modifications to the Android OS with HTC Sense and Motorola Motoblur so if you want the pure Google Android experience you might want to go for Samsung and if you really want the Ice Cream Sandwich right now, then there's really no other option but the Galaxy Nexus.

Other Features

HTC Rezound will greatly appeal to audiophiles with its Beats Audio feature. The Rezound will ship with Beats headphones and advanced audio tuning. As for the Razr it will have a Kevlar coating and Gorilla Glass to make it one tough smartphone and perfect for clumsy owners. The Galaxy Nexus is the only one of the three phones to offer NFC support.

To sum up, all three phones have their own strengths and weaknesses and deciding among the three of them will largely depend on the user's preference. If you want an ultra thin phone, go with the Droid Razr, audiophiles should look at the Rezound while the Galaxy Nexus offers a great overall experience and the Ice Cream Sandwich.
