Anker Nano II 65W Wall Charger Review
Who Is The Anker Nano II 65W Wall Charger For?
- The Anker Nano II 65W wall charger is ideal for those who have fast-charging cell phones with otherwise bulky wall chargers
- The Anker Nano II works well with laptops and other larger devices
- The Nano II is compact, making it ideal for travel
Fast-charging cell phones are awesome because they can go from dead to a full battery in a fraction of the time it takes to charge a standard cell phone. However, fast-charging phones need more power to charge so quickly, which means they typically need the big, bulky wall chargers they come bundled with. Power expert Anker must have agreed with me that these proprietary wall chargers are too big, as they have created the Anker Nano II, a small wall charger that comes packed with 65 watts of power.
Size Comparison
I have the OnePlus 9 Pro phone, which charges impossibly fast. While it's awesome how quickly the 9 Pro charges, the only way to get those fast speeds is by using the charger that came with the phone. This charger is a 65W wall charger, which explains why almost every other charger cannot fill the 9 Pro's battery nearly as quickly.
Enter the Anker Nano II 65W charger, which meets many of the same specs as the OnePlus charger. The most immediate difference between the two wall chargers is that the Anker Nano II is significantly smaller. Additionally, the Nano II's prongs can fold in, making the charger even smaller when not in use.
Performance Comparison
While the Anker Nano II charger is smaller than other 65W chargers, how does it actually perform? The good news here is that the Nano II works exactly as anticipated. That means devices charge faster or can be used while plugged in.
Going back to the OnePlus charger, when I plug in my OnePlus 9 Pro, the phone recognizes it has been plugged into that specific charger and activates a quick charge function. When I plug the 9 Pro into the Anker Nano II, the same exact quick charge function doesn't activate, but the phone still charges very quickly. For example, when plugged into the Anker Nano II, my OnePlus 9 Pro topped off from 88 percent to 100 percent in under 10 minutes.
Looking beyond phones, the Anker Nano II wall charger is also capable of powering larger devices including laptops. Many modern laptops have switched to a USB-C cable for power and the Nano II is capable of providing that power. It may not be as fast as the included power cables, but the Nano II can still charge a modern MacBook Air in under two hours.
That means the Nano II can effectively replace all other power bricks and wall chargers. This is amazing for travel, as all those other bulky wall chargers can be left at home.
Of course, the big downside is that the Nano II only has one USB-C port. That means only one device can be charged at a time. This isn't that much of an issue if planned properly, but could definitely be the source of frustration if devices start running out of power at the same time.
Final Thoughts
The Anker Nano II 65W wall charger is exactly what it says on the box. The wall charger is compact and easy to carry, making it a perfect replacement for more bulky wall chargers from cell phones and laptops. At $40, I'm not about to run out and replace all of my wall chargers with Nano II chargers, but it's definitely worth it to have one or two when traveling with electronics.
