Everyone expected Apple to come up with better and more powerful devices but only a few expect the tech giant to cut prices. The latest MacBook Pro line is now more affordable - both the 13 and 15-inch versions are now more affordable than the previous generation. Can the 2013 Haswell MacBook Pro line revive Apple's sales domination?

The flagship MacBook Pro with Retina Display remained true to its reputation for screen resolutions. The product like boasts of 2,560x1,600 pixels for the 13-inch model and 2,880x1,800 for the 15-inch model. Both screen resolutions promises clear and crisper photos.

What separates the OS X from Windows-based PCs with higher screen resolutions is that is scales the onscreen content to achieve the best appearance. Or at least, in the way Apple think it best to view the content. The new MacBook Pro line scales the content instead of a full access to the high screen resolution.

Likewise, similar to the iMac and MacBook Air updates, the refreshed line of MacBook Pro models pack on faster PCIe solid-state drive (SSD) storage, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Thunderbolt 2 ports for video and data output.

As mentioned, what surprised the market was the starting price of the 13 and 15-inch models. The 13-inch MacBook Pro dropped the price from $1,499 to $1,299. The 15-inch version, on the other hand dropped from $2,199 to $1,999. This is a different strategy from what Apple did traditionally. Apple maintained the prices of their product lines for many years and through different generations. The company would only add components for increased value.

As analysts note, the company is banking on their refreshed MacBook Pros to revive their sales and dominate the market once more. As the market reacted traditionally, products with lower prices but premium features dominate or acquire positive market reception. This will not be hard for Apple as the company has made a name already.

As the iPhone 5c proved, the market is amenable to more affordable products. As the 2013 MacBook Pro line does not seem to lack on premium features, says may look up for the next few weeks. Other reported features of the new MacBook Pro line include: fourth-gen Intel CPU (Core i5 for the 13-inch and Core i7 for the 15-inch), Iris and Iris Pro integrated graphics and an optional Nvidia GeForce 750M graphics for the 15-inch model.

2013 MacBook Pros also come with 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM while the 15-inch device packs on 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM.
