Tech website about Apple iMore reported that Apple, Inc. (NYSE:AAPL) will hold a media event on March 7 to announce the release of the latest generation iPad.

Last week, another tech website AllThingsD reported that an iPad event will be held on the first week of March. Moreover March 7 is a Wednesday, which is a traditional day for Apple when ho9lding these types of events. As usual, the Cupertino-based company has no comment on these rumors. This will be confirmed until the members of the press get an invite on the actual event, if there is one. However, Jim Dalrymple of LoopInsight -- who has an impeccable track record when it comes to Apple related rumors -- confirms the date with his typical "Yes".

There were a lot of reports that the iPad 3 will feature a quad-core Apple A6 system-on-a-chip, and possibly 4G LTE networking. However, these rumors were still unconfirmed. It is not yet confirmed that the iPad 3 will be sporting a quad-core or a dula core system. There are various sources pointing at both directions.

Another clouded claim for the new iPad 3 is the 4G LTE networking. Despite the availability of the compatible Qualcomm chipset, the international LTE coverage is still slim. There is a rumor that the new iPhone set to be launched on October 2012 will get such feature. However, there is no confirmation that the new iPad will get it also.

Five to eight megapixels rear camera and a FaceTime HD front camera are said to be integrated in the new iPad. Likewise, there is no confirmation on these reports. However, cameras should be fit in thethin iPad 3 casing if Apple would like to keep its component costs down and maintain its $499 entry level price even though the company decided to keep the iPad 2 with a marked down price.

The public will have to wait for the official announcement from Apple as for the release of the device.
