As Apple Inc's iOS 7 rolled out to compatible devices on Sept. 18, many iOS users experienced frustrating server errors trying to get Apple's latest iOS software. Despite complaints and reports of errors, many people with iPhones and iPads were able to successfully update to iOS 7.

Based on reports from several mobile publishing companies, Apple Inc's iOS 7 has a rapid rate of adoption in just 24 hours. According to data from Chitika, North American iOS users accounted for only 18 per cent of traffic for Apple's iOS 7 downloads. The rate beats previous iOS versions. including the first day update statistics of iOS 6.

The report revealed about 300 million page views from iOS devices in Canada and United States. In just 24 hours, there were more users on Apple Inc's iOS 7 than there were on the first day when the previous iOS 6 version was released for download.

Based on real-time data observed by mobile web and app analytics provider Mixpanel, iOS devices running the iOS 7 has reached 35 per cent. The firm also discovered that many iOS users updated their devices during the workday with 22 per cent already using their devices with iOS 7 within 10 hours after the software's release.

On the other hand, Android's Jelly Bean version only had 57 per cent of traffic based on data from the Mixpanel network, 450 days after it was first released for download.

Onswipe CEO Jason Baptiste told Techcrunch via email that Apple's iOS 7 enjoys a high adoption rate because downloading the new software means close to getting a brand new iPhone or iPad at no cost to the user. The iOS 7 adoption rate is also accelerated by app developers who are racing to redesign and optimise their apps to reach users who have already updated to Apple's latest iOS software.

The early users of devices with iOS 7 have reported several errors as Apple's iOS 7 shows expected growing pains a day after its release. Techies were generally impressed with the iOS 7. Many users reported that their iPhones and iPads felt snappy when they opened apps. Like all new software updates, here are the top complaints after downloading iOS 7:

1. Shorter battery life. Apple's iOS upgrades often result in issues affecting battery life for some users and the latest iOS 7 has people complaining as expected. Several people have reported battery drain while they were updating to iOS 7. With iOS 6, the iPhone 5 battery life went from 661 minutes to 444 minutes with the iOS 7. According to Lifehacker, users noticed a heavy drain on the iPad's battery life.

Solution: Turn off App Background Refresh

You can use the App Background Refresh feature of the iOS 7 that keeps applications running and refreshing in the background do not seem to be working well and only drains battery life. Just go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh. Set it to Off and that's it.

2. Mail inboxes reset after updating.

iOS users with the latest Apple software have complained on Twitter that their mail counter on Gmail and Mailbox was no longer correct or accurate.

Solution: Re-start iPhone or iPad.

Mailbox replied to a Twitter user who reported the problem and recommended restarting the device. The app developers said they are currently looking into the issue.

For Gmail users, there seems to be no solution just yet. However, some iOS users gave a temporary solution by marking all mail as "All read".

Some apps may also have errors while trying to open them in iOS 7. There is no fix to this issue, but you may see new updates to your favorite apps soon as developers are working round the clock to ensure their users will be able to have a better app experience with Apple Inc's iOS 7.
