Apple Inc's iPhone 5C Closing In On iPhone 5S; Stores Open Early for Nov. 1 iPad Air Sales
Despite reports of reduced orders for the iPhone 5C, Apple Inc's cheaper iPhone is apparently catching up with its premium cousin, the iPhone 5S. When the two iPhones were first released, the iPhone 5S has outsold iPhone 5C as much as 500 per cent as most people waiting in line outside of stores wanted to get their hands on the flashier iPhone 5S.
According to Localytics, Apple's iPhone 5C is closing in on the iPhone 5S with the sales gap down to only 200 per cent in the United States. The news came as a surprise to Apple Inc observers since there were recent reports of Apple ramping up iPhone 5S production while cutting down on orders for iPhone 5C.
Other reports claimed the iPhone 5S production went up by 75 per cent while iPhone 5C orders were trimmed to half.
However, new figures from Localytics showed that the iPhone 5C sales are steadily increasing each week since Apple Inc's launch event. According to a blog by Localytics, the iPhone 5C was dismissed as still expensive despite the product is being targeted in emerging markets.
Localytics said that a month after the iPhone 5C was launched with iPhone 5S, the iPhone 5C has been "gaining traction." The company also posted in its blog that the U.S. ratio of active iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C has declined to 1.9x.
Meanwhile, Apple Inc is reportedly opening its stores early on Nov. 1 to accommodate customers who plan to buy the new iPad Air. Stores are set to open an hour before its regular opening hours for eager buyers.
This will not be the first time that Apple Inc will open early on the first day of selling a brand new product. When the company started selling the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, stores were also opened an hour early.
Since Apple Inc had no pre-orders for the iPad Air, the company may not do the same with the iPad Air. Reports said that Apple may take pre-orders on Nov. 1 at 12 midnight PST. The iPad Mini 2 with retina display sale date is not yet known but is believed to be on sale within the month of November.
