Apple Introduces Apple Watch Instead of iWatch, To Be Released in 2015 at $349
The Apple Watch is the new product line that Apple has introduced since the iPad and it is the first under CEO Tim Cook. Apple is going to enter the watch market even though other companies have already tried and failed to reach the mass consumers, according to Time. By creating a mixture of sleek design in hardware and an easy-to-use interface, Apple will try to convince the consumers the need to purchase this device.
The Apple Watch will be available in two sizes, the 38mm and the 42mm and it will come in three variants. It works with iPhone 5 or later. Users will be able to send and receive text messages, take and decline calls, it is fitness and health oriented. It features Apple Pay and users can send its heartbeat to another Apple Watch owner.
The Apple Watch looks sharp. It is a rectangular watch that has the "digital crown" on the side to allow users to zoom in and out of a map or to scroll up and down a list. But to use the Apple Watch, it has to be connected with an iPhone. It can work with iPhone 5 or later. It can relay notifications from the phone that will provide easy access to the user.
The Apple Watch is a touch screen device that has a Retina display. Users can simply press the digital crown to go back to the home screen. There is no need to touch the screen, users just have to scroll the digital crown. So, basically, the digital crown allow users to navigate the watch without touching the screen. It also serves as the way to call up Siri. For those who are not familiar, Siri is Apple's personal digital assistant.
The display activates on the Apple Watch once it senses the wrist of the user. According to Time, the Apple Watch is extremely sensitive since Apple claims that the technology inside the watch gives and receives feedback with a bit of subtlety. The Taptic Engines is its vibration system that give haptic feedback that depends on the context. It will also know the difference between a tap and a press on the touch screen.
The Apple Watch is of course, fitness oriented and health is divided into Fitness app to track the user within the day and Workout app that is for targeted bursts. It uses GPS and WiFi coming from the iPhone. It also features the Heart Rate monitor. It might become the user's alternative to a personal trainer. Apple seems to be stressing out how the Apple Watch will motivate its users to be more active and health oriented.
Another thing that the Apple Watch offers is its Emojis. Users can control the Emoji it wants to send on the screen just by stretching the smiley face into whichever configuration the user wants.
Since a lot of women are not really into smartwatches because of the designs on the existing smartwatches in the market, Apple was smart on showing a lot of women wearing the Apple Watch. This just shows that the new smartwatch is more likely about having a taste in style and technology. It can be customized into 11 faces including traditional analog options, contemporary sun dial and an interactive, real time 3D model of the Earth, sun, moon and planets, according to Mashable. Upon the purchase of the Apple Watch, users can get a collection of apps that include Starwood, Twitter, BMW and American Airlines. User will be able to board and open its hotel room just by swiping the the watch. The Apple Watch will be out by 2015 and it will cost $349.
