Apple introduces its 12.9-inch iPad Pro with Apple Pencil
At the Apple Special Event in San Francisco, the company announced its giant size, super thin all- new iPad Pro with 12.9-inch Retina display. Apple also introduced its first stylus, the Apple Pencil for the iPad Pro. The iPad Pro will ship this November in silver, gold and space grey colours.
The iPad Pro is 6.9mm thin. Its big screen offers 5.6 million pixels, the most advanced and highest resolution of display ever in an iOS device. Apple also said the improved energy efficiency through photo alignment technology, oxide TFT and variable refresh rate will deliver greater colours and uniform brightness.
“The iPad Pro is far and away the fastest iOS device we have ever made — its A9X chip beats most portable PCs in both CPU and graphics tasks, but is thin and light enough to hold all day,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, in a press note.
The latest and the most powerful 64-bit A9X chip by Apple provides desktop-class CPU performance coupled with all day battery life. Introducing Wi-Fi with MIMO technology and wide range of LTE bands, the new iPad will provide ultra-fast wireless connectivity. Apple says that the iPad Pro is 80 per cent faster than portable PCs shipped last year, Business Standard reported.
The new iOS 9 will bring specially designed multi-tasking features to the new iPad Pro. The all-new News app, revamped Notes app and a powerful search option will improve the user experience. Furthermore, an improved Siri brings in more intelligence to the device. There will be more than 850,000 new generation of most advanced apps in the App Store specially designed for the device.
Apple’s new Smart Keyboard will further elevate the levels of utility with a full-sized thin keyboard, which will be available for purchase separately. The keyboard can be connected to the innovative Smart Connector port eliminating the need for a separate battery. It is easy to fold and Quick Type enables to type faster than ever. The Smart Keyboard will be available in charcoal gray for US$169 (AU$242).
Meanwhile, the Apple Pencil is a precision input device to make drawing and sketching even more smooth and effective. The device will be available for purchase separately. Tipped for business users, the Apple Pencil integrated with Multi-Touch display will provide incredible accuracy for fine illustrations. It will also work with apps like Mail, Notes, Procreate and Office 365 for iPad. Apple Pencil will be available for US$99 (AU$141).
The iPad Pro will ship this November in stylish metallic finish in Silver, Gold, Space Grey colours. The 32GB with Wi-Fi model starts at US$799 (AU$1142) and the Wi-Fi + Cellular 128GB model will cost US$1079 (AU$1542).
