Users with Apple's latest operating system iOS 8 installed in their devices are in the soup. Notably, the iOS 8 was made available to users starting last week. And the iOS 8 software update brings in new features like Notification Center widgets, Continuity and third-party keyboard support, to name a few. Similar to other updates, users have been complaining about various issues cropped up after installing the update.

Apparently, many of the complaints indicate very slow Wi-Fi connectivity and battery drain issues. Spotted first by PCMag, the new iOS 8 users on the Apple forums have reported the aforementioned problems in a thread that extends to multiple pages, suggesting many users are facing similar problems with their update, reports MacRumors.

Going by the reported complaints, the slow Wi-Fi problem has affected devices like iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina, among others. One of the forum users reported that, he purchased a new iPhone 6 on Friday and that he noticed the phone was very slow upon connecting to his Wi-Fi network at home. In addition, he reported that Twitter and Instagram pictures took longer time to render and even browser Safari was giving trouble. Apparently, the speed test showed a dismal 0.01 Mbps download and 1.05 Mbps upload.

Several iOS 8 users were able to get around the problem by disabling Wi-Fi Network under Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services. Other prominent iOS 8 problem got to be the substantial battery drain issue and many users have complained about this in Apple Support forums. One of the users reported that his battery went from 100% to 0% in under 4 hours with average device usage.

Unfortunately, battery and Wi-Fi connectivity are not the only issues plaguing iOS 8. Many users are facing different issues after installing iOS 8, some are complaining about app crashes and sound issues (pertaining exclusive to iPads). In specific, iPad users are not able to hear sound even when the device is not muted, after the installation. Readers with sound issues on their iPads can try fixing the problem by resetting the iPad. Navigate to Settings -> General -> Reset -> click "Reset iPad."

Ultimate Solution

It is worth noting that, Apple is already working on an "iOS 8 Update" to support Apple Pay, SMS Relay and other features. This update will likely have the fix to several persisting issues reported so far.
