Apple iPad 3 Air Expected In October: Might Run With The Upcoming iOS 9
A successor of a device is always expected to be an improved and revised edition. The same is expected from Apple’s iPad Air 3.
For the past few years Apple has been launching a new iPad by the third quarter of the year. This year will be no exception. The upcoming Apple tablet is expected to be released either in October or November. Macworld reports October will see the new iPad Air 3; whereas ITPro specifically mentioned 1st November to be the launch date of the new device.
Currently, there are six models of iPad – the original iPad, iPad Air, iPad Air2, iPad Mini 1, iPad Mini 2 and iPad Mini 3. The upcoming version will be the seventh iPad model. Thus, it is also speculated that the device may be called iPad 7.
Specs and Features
As reported by ITPro, the brand new iPad Air 3 will be thinner than its ancestor, and will tout a 6.1mm thick 9.7in display. According to Inquisitr the release of the iPad Air 3 could also coincide with the release of iOS 9.
It is rumoured to be more customizable which will allow the users to change the theme and colors of their operating system. The new iPad Air 3 is also expected to be released with the new iOS 9 which will be more stable with faster speeds.
According to CrossMap, much like the iPhone 6 Plus, the iPad Air 3 could feature the upcoming A9 processor and an enhanced 4K resolution with 401 ppi (pixel per inch). The site also mentions that the new tablet may have 7inch screen, 3GB RAM, 5mm thickness, 4G connectivity, 128 GB on-board memory along with dust-proofing and water-proofing features. The new iPad Air 3 might also sport an A9X chip, which a more powerful and improved version of A9 chip.
With the iPad Air 3, the 16GB variant is expected to be replaced by a more reasonable 32GB variant. However, Inquisitr reports that the iPad Air 3 might get a RAM upgrade. It is rumoured that it could have RAM of up to 4GB. The iPad Air 3 is expected to be out with 3 color options – silver, space grey and gold according to Macworld.
Other speculation include that the iPad Air 3 will get Stylus. It’s also likely that the new tablet will get the new Apple Pay and Touch ID features. The mute toggle switch feature will be back on iPad Air 3.
On the camera front, may be the megapixel count of the iPad’s rear-facing camera will be increased from 5Mp to 8Mp for better low-light performance. The front-facing (FaceTime HD) camera will retain the same (1.2Mp) rating, but Apple is said to have improved the sensor.
