Apple iPad Air 3 and 4-inch iPhone 5se to sport Apple A9X and A9 processor - report
Apple's chief chipmaker, Johny Srouji, recently confirmed important hardware details about the company's upcoming devices, the iPhone 5se and the iPad Air 3. In a report, Srouji said both products would sport Apple's latest generation chipset used by their flagship counterparts.
In a cover story profiling Srouji, Apple's senior vice president of Hardware Technologies, Bloomberg noted that an “updated iPad” and “smaller-screen iPhone” would feature the latest A9 and A9x chips. The publication cited a source familiar with Apple's plans, but its device descriptions match Apple's new 4-inch iPhone 5se, which will reportedly run the A9 processor, and the iPad Air 3, which could be powered by Apple A9X chip.
The A9 processor is currently found in Apple's existing flagship lineup, the iPhone 6s series. The chipset is said to be 50 percent faster than its predecessor at multi core operations, reports Apple Insider.
On the other hand, the Apple A9X chipset, which is believed to power the iPad Air 3, debuted with the giant screen 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The chipset boasts 4Gb of RAM, doubling the amount of memory found in the iPad Air 2 run on Apple A8X processor.
The Apple iPad Air 3 will also likely include 4 speaker audio and a Smart Connector port for connecting various accessories. The tech giant will possibly add support for the Apple Pencil and a LED flash for the rear-facing camera.
