The Apple iPad Pro officially showcased by the Cupertino giant is yet to be available for purchase. Fresh information suggests Apple might not achieve record-breaking sales of the iPad Pro since it’s expected to ship fewer units in the remaining months of 2015.

Apple will begin selling its large-sized iPad next month, according to Digitimes. An upstream supply chain has spilled the beans that the company will manufacture only 2.5 million units for the rest of the year. This shows Apple’s conservative approach towards the sales of the iPad Pro

Moreover, if demand for the iPad Pro is low during the upcoming holiday season, it may so happen that Apple will order fewer units of the iPad Pro in the first quarter of 2016.

One major reason as to why Apple will order fewer iPad Pro units is the steep pricing of the 12.9-inch tablet. The base 32 GB model that offers only a Wi-Fi connection costs $799 (AU$1,121). The other 128 GB storage variant that also offers Wi-Fi connectivity costs $949 (AU$1,331).

Accessories like the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard cost $99 (AU$139) and $169 (AU$237), respectively. If a user purchases both the accessories, the price of the tablet will cross $1,000 (AU$1,400) for the 32 GB model and $1200 (AU$1,680) for the 128 GB model.

Moreover, there is a Wi-FI + LTE version of the 128 GB model that costs $1,079 (AU$1,514) without accessories.

According to GSM Arena, the first order of 2.5 million units for a niche product like the iPad Pro will be good for the last two months of 2015. It may be a calculated move from the Cupertino company to increase the demand for the iPad Pro. Rumours are rife iPad Pro preorders will begin on Nov. 2 with its release date coming on Nov. 6.
