Apple iPad Pro Mass Production To Start In Q2 2015 Says KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo -- Report
The expectations surrounding the upcoming Apple iPad Pro is rife, mainly because of the humongous display size. Needless to say, during the announcement of the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3, the tech world was eagerly waiting for the iPad Pro announcement. However, the much-awaited iPad Pro was never part of Apple's iPad launch schedule. This is mainly due to the manufacturing problems and hence the device was postponed to 2015. However, recent report says that the iPad Pro will be in production in the second quarter of 2015.
Ming-Chi Kuo, the credible and reliable KGI Securities analyst, predicts that the Apple iPad Pro will not enter mass production until Q2 2015. According to Ming-Chi, the iPad Pro will come with an "oxide panel" to provide high resolution and high colour saturation, along with quick response. However, the time duration required for the production of the necessary components and in turn, assembling the modules, will force the mass production to the second quarter of 2015, according to MacRumors. To further corroborate the delay in production, The Wall Street Journal noted recently that Apple had pushed back the planned December production schedule to utilise its resources to produce more 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus phablet units.
In addition to predicting the time frame of the mass production, the KGI analyst also stated that overall iPad shipments will drop 54.5 percent quarter over quarter to a worrisome 9.8 million iPad units during Q1 2015. This forecast is predominantly because of the general lack of new applications and the obvious, market saturation, says the same site.
In retrospect, Apple shipped a total of 16.35 million iPads in Q1 2014, however, the sales have been on a down spiral right after Q1. In Q4 2014, Apple shipped 12.3 million iPad units. In the same time frame in 2013, the company sold 14.1 million iPads.
Moving on to the rumoured specifications, the iPad Pro is expected to come with a display between 12.2- inch and 12.9-inch, whereas the recently released iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3 feature a 9.7-inch and 7.9-inch displays, respectively. Apart from the display, the tablet will reportedly be powered by the same A8X processor seen in the iPad Air 2. Also, it is expected to sport ultra high screen resolution and 7 mm thickness, which is same as the other iPads.
