Apple iPhone 5S vs. iPhone 6 – Specs And Price Comparison
The enthusiasm around the announcement of iPhone 6 has multiplied tenfold from the time the rumors started making the rounds. The internet space is flooded with rumors and expectations around the new iPhone 6. In this post, we have compared the anticipated iPhone 6 with the already prominent and still-in-demand iPhone 5S with all the information available at our disposal.
Design
There is a massive improvement in the size and resolution of iPhone 6 and it is definitely bigger than iPhone 5S. The screen size could be anywhere between 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. If the rumors were true, Apple could offer 2 different screen size variants.
If the display size is 4.7 inches the resolution & pixel density would be 1,600 x 900 pixels and 386 ppi respectively. Nonetheless, if the display size is 5.5 inches the resolution & pixel density would be 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and 401 ppi. In addition, the iPhone 6 is expected to come with a protective sapphire crystal cover on its screen.
Hardware & Software
Apple has always emphasized & given priority to the performance of their handsets with every new release. It is only natural that iPhone 6 will have superior performance by bettering the processor from its predecessor. While iPhone 5S is powered by 1.3 GHz dual-core A7 chipset with 64 bit processor, it is rumored that iPhone 6 will have a A8 chipset with 64 bit processor and it is expected to be energy efficient and smaller in size.
The other expected area of improvement is the RAM, iPhone 5S houses only a 1 GB of RAM, while the competitors have surged the RAM specification up to 3 GB.
The iPhone 5S runs on iOS 7, while the expectation is rife that iPhone 6 could very well be running on iOS 8.
Memory
Although there are couple of versions to choose from, if the rumors were true, there could be 128 GB of storage space option available with iPhone 6. It is worth noting that, Apple iPad already has this storage/memory version.
Camera
Apple is staying out of the megapixel war for quite some time now, but their image enhancement mechanism with their software update is praiseworthy although the iPhone 5S sports only an 8 MP rear camera and a 1.2 MP front camera.
Even with iPhone 6, Apple is not expected to play around the megapixel to a great extent; instead iPhone might have aperture, image stabilization and software updates. iPhone 6 is expected to house a 10 megapixel camera with a f/1.8 aperture, while iPhone 5S has a f/2.2 aperture size.
Battery
This is the area most of the complaints are pointed at when it comes to iPhones. The very slim body of iPhone does not give much scope for a bigger battery. The iPhone 5S has a 1,560mAh battery (embedded), which is expected to give up to 10 hours of charge for regular usage.
Although there are umpteen tricks and tips available to boost the iPhone battery, iPhone fans are looking forward to a permanent solution from Apple. Apple could introduce the power saving mode that Samsung handsets boast to counter the battery deficit.
Misc
Along with the improvements to the Touch ID fingerprint sensor, iPhone 6 is expected to have wireless charging facility and improvements in the color reproduction mechanism. In order to face the competition head-on, Apple might introduce many more sensors to its upcoming flagship smartphone.
Price
Apple iPhone 5S 16GB variant is priced at $199 (under wireless service plan) while the 32GB and 64GB variants can be purchased at a price of $299 and $399 (under wireless service plan) respectively. The iPhone 6 is expected to be priced $100 more than the iPhone 5S, according to CultureMob.
