Apple iPhone 6 And iPhone 6 Plus Pre-orders Makes A Record: Sells 4 Million Units In 24 Hours
The pre-orders for iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus began on Sept 12. On Monday, the Cupertino company rolled out a press release on its website which states that the pre-orders of both the smartphones have broken all previous pre-order records. It reported that customers pre-ordered more than 4 million units within the first 24 hours. Here is the official press release.
In 2013, Apple sold 2.2 million iPhone5 and iPhone 5C through pre-orders and by the first weekend, 9 million units were sold. In 2012, Apple had managed to sell 2 million iPhone 5 units in 24 hours. The pre-orders of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus sales have already broken all the previous records.
In its press release, Apple did not provide any breakdown on how many people placed orders for the iPhone 6 and how many purchased the iPhone 6 Plus phablet. BGR reported that the iPhone 6 Plus was sold out immediately on Sept 12.
The demand for the new iPhone 6 models is very high. Many people who managed to place pre-orders are scheduled to receive their handsets beginning from Sept 19. However, most other customers are expected to receive their handsets in the coming month.
The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus release date is Sept 19. From this day, both the handsets will be available for purchase at retail stores of Apple. Even carrier partners and authorized sellers will start selling the new iPhone 6 models from Sept 19. Customers can visit the stores starting at 8AM on the coming Friday to purchase their handsets.
On Sept 19, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus will arrive in countries like US, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico and France. After this, the handsets are expected to hit other countries like New Zealand, Italy, Finland, Denmark, Russia, Sweden, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and more.
The huge demand for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus this year clearly indicates that Apple fans have been eagerly waiting for the Cupertino company to release large-sized iPhones. Finally, Apple has rolled out a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus phablet.
