Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S Plus' A9 chipset offers 50 percent more faster processor
Apple’s claim that its A9 chipset makes the new iPhone 6 and 6S Plus the fastest in the market has been backed by tests conducted by processor benchmarking program, Geekbench. Preliminary testing of Apple’s newest A9 processor shows great improvement over last year’s already fast A8 processor, said Geekbench.
Geekbench’s tests showed the newly launched Apple phones are 57% faster in performance compared to last year’s iPhone 6 Plus. The A9 has improved the new phone’s capacity for multicore tasks by more than 50 percent, and nearly 60 percent for single core tasks.
Apple Insider reported the A9-powered iPhone 6s array is 133 percent speedier in single core performance than Qualcomm’s quadcore Snapdragon 805 mainly used by Motorola’s Nexus 6. Samsung and Qualcomm have hugely relied on adding multiple cores to complement the slower performance of smaller, individual cores.
Earlier this year, a Gamebench test comparing the Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6S Plus on the basis of real-world gaming performance showed Apple device beating Samsung’s newest smartphone. Specifically, it noted the iPhone 6 runs high-end games smoothly and has a more stable frame rate that rarely drops below 30fps. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S6 didn’t cope well when run with games performed at lower frame rates.
“The A9 chip is capable of gaming console-class graphics performance that makes games and other apps much richer and more immersive”, said Apple in a blog post . The iPhone 6S Plus tested by Gamebench was powered by the A8 processor, however.
Market analysts estimate Apple iPhone sales during the opening weekend was between 13 million and 15 million units, reported Tech Times . The Geekbench score for the new A9-driven iPhones might be a driving factor that encourages more users to get a hold of the new iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus.
