Apple iPhone 6 Release Date Soon as iOS 8 Comes: Top Features to Expect
Apple will reportedly release its iPhone 6 in September. Recent information suggests that around the same time, the tech giant will also introduce the iOS 8. While the two major releases will not happen in a few months, there are already several predictions and expectations about the next Apple operating system. What will the iPhone 6 be like running on iOS 8? What will iOS 8 offer on the table?
According to 9to5 Mac, the eight generation of Apple's mobile operating system will not pack as much design changes but it will offer a range of new and improved functions. Some of the reported specs according to the Paste Magazine include:
- Mass Transit-Friendly Apple Maps - Apple ran into a slump when it decided to go native with navigation. The iOS 6 became a major fiasco. Since then the company has been working on transforming its Apple Maps reputation once more. According to recent reports, the iOS 8 may feature mass transit directions from well known public transportation programs like Embark, HopStop and BroadMap.
- Fitness-Focused HealthBook - when Samsung came out with a heart monitor in Galaxy S5, it seems only a matter of time before seeing a similar feature on an Apple product. Sites like 9to5 Mac and Independent.ie has reported about a fitness-focused healthbook to be included in the iOS 8. The app will reportedly sport a similar look to Passbook. It can help users monitor fitness "data points" such as blood pressure, nutrition, sugar levels, physical activity, sleep and weight among others.
- iTunes Radio As Individual App - apple may release an independent Radio app to compete against popular streaming programs like iHeartRadio, Spotify and Pandora. Instead of using the Music function, the new Radio app will be pre-installed. It will offer a list of "featured stations." This can also provide a whole new range of free music for iPhone users.
- Preview and Text Edit features - the upcoming Preview and TextEdit app will reportedly allow users to see their files that are also synched with their iCloud. The app is a more accurate and efficient way to keep and save photos and other emailed documents.
These are just some of the reported specs for the iOS 8. As more analysts believe the iPhone 6 will launch with the iOS 8 then people can also expect the following functions on the new iPhone.
