Apple iPhone 7 Release Roundup: Release Date, Liquidmetal and New Design Technology
Apple's release of the iPhone 6 restored confidence in the company as it posted record breaking sales for both handset editions. The success of the iPhone 6 goes on to put more pressure to the company with details about the iPhone 7 surfacing as early as now. What has been leaked so far? Can people already get an idea of what Apple has in store for its next big release?
There have been talks whether the next iPhone will be the iPhone 6s or the iPhone 7. According to Pocket-Lint, there are several considerations when going for the 6s or the 7 name. For instance, the iPhone 6s is possible if Apple wants to make another handset stand with a few upgrades but overhauling features from the iPhone 6 series would mean a new iPhone 7. Analysts think that Apple may not go for the 6s anymore though the company has not confirmed anything.
Likewise, considering Apple's release pattern then it would be a while before people can expect any new phone releases from the company. The iPhone 5 was released in September 2012 followed by the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5s in 2013. The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus were just launched this September indicating that it could be a long way before anyone nails the right specs of the device.
Design-wise, people are expecting more of the liquidmetal alloy finding its way into many of Apple's devices including upcoming handsets. Sapphire glass remains a possibility but a recent press release from Corning introduced the Gorilla Glass 4 offering double the strength of its previous offerings and anything on the market.
The industry has also been buzzing recently about possible new display technologies as Foxconn Technology Co Ltd subsidiary has reportedly been working on building a new exclusive factory for Apple. Bloomberg reported that the Innolux (a Taiwan-based subsidiary) plans to fork over more than $2.6 billion. Apple has not made any comments about possible releases soon.
