Apple iPhone 8 may introduce never-seen-before wireless charging technology; Company could be in talks with Energous
A report has revealed that the Apple iPhone 8 could come with a never-seen-before wireless charging technology. It is believed that the 10th anniversary smartphone from Apple would come with a receiver inside. When the device needs to be charged, the receiver would connect to a transmitter plugged into wall socket.
The flagship from Apple is said to have a radical new design. As per latest reports, Apple is working with Energous to introduce the wireless-charging technology for iPhone 8. If rumours are to be believed, the iPhone owner has to be within 15 feet of the transmitter for successful charging, writes BGR.
Neither Energous nor Apple has confirmed this for iPhone 8 though the very concept of wireless charging has been on the cards for some time. Samsung introduced dual wireless charging for its Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices. The circular pads charge the device without the need to connect the device to a cable.
Charging pads and stands are available that can support up to three devices though the wireless charging devices available currently require connecting to a socket with a cable. The technology being developed by Apple with Energous for iPhone 8 is new and eliminates all use of cables.
As per The Indian Express, the Apple iPhone 8 could feature an OLED display and a glass back. The 2017 iPhone may not sport an aluminium back. A Nikkei report has also stated that Apple could release an additional screen size for iPhone 8. The 5-inch variant may have a 2.5D glass.
Other reports have revealed that the Apple iPhone 8 will remove the physical Home button. A bezel-free curved design is also on the cards. The handset may also have an edgeless design.
Moving towards a curved design seems like a strong possibility as talks have been there for quite some time now. An edgeless display in the Apple iPhone 8 is also more efficient as it offers quick access to various features.
The world is waiting for the iPhone 8 and the wait is worth it.
