From March 24, 13 countries including Australia will be able to pre-order Apple’s new iPhone SE and the smaller 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

Apple will also accept orders for the two aforementioned devices in Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the US. Both the iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro will go on sale from March 31.

Apple iPhone SE

Sporting a similar design to the iPhone 5s of 2013, Apple’s new 4-inch iPhone SE comes packed with upgraded hardware specs and features under the hood. The main highlights of the smartphone definitely include a faster Apple A9 processor, improved 12-megapixel camera with Focus Pixels and True Tone flash, Apple Pay compatibility and support for Live Photos.

Price and availability

Available in Space Gray, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold, the Apple iPhone SE comes in two storage capacities - 16GB and 64GB.

The iPhone SE price starts at AU$679 (16GB), while the 64GB variant is priced at AU$829.

The new iPhone can be bought from Apple’s online store, retail stores, Apple authorized resellers and select carriers.

As of this writing, Telstra is the only Australian carrier that has put up the pricing and plans for the Apple iPhone SE. The carrier will offer the 16GB variant for AU$71 per month for 24 months.

By May 2016, the smartphone will be available in more than 100 countries.

Apple’s 9.7-inch iPad Pro

The newest member of the iPad Pro family sports a 9.7-inch Retina display with True Tone technology, an Apple A9X processor, a 12-megapixel iSight camera with support for Live Photos along with a 5MP FaceTime HD camera and a four-speaker audio system.

Price and availability

The 9.7-inch iPad Pro offers three internal storage options – 32GB, 128GB or 256GB with Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + Cellular connectivity.

Wi-Fi only models are priced as follows:

  • 32GB - AU$899
  • 128GB - AU$1149
  • 256GB – AU$1399

Wi-Fi + Cellular models prices are as follows:

  • 32GB – AU$1099
  • 128GB – AU$1349
  • 256GB – AU$1599

The device is available in Silver, Gold, Space Gray and Rose Gold colour varints.

The new 9.7-inch iPad Pro also comes with support for Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. Apple Pencil is available for US$99 (AU$130), while the Smart Keyboard in Charcoal Gray costs US$149 (AU$196).

From early April, the device will also be available in select European countries including Spain, Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland, as well as the UAE and India.
