Apple iWatch Release in October: 10 Things You Should Know About iWatch
The Wall Street Journal has cited Apple's iWatch will be released in October. This will be the most awaited smartwatch for 2014. Below is a list of top 10 things you may want to know about Apple iWatch.
1. Most probably it will be named "iWatch" since Apple has trademarked it in five countries.
2. It will have a diagonally 2.5-inch rectangular screen, according to Reuters reports and will run on modified version of Apple's iOS.
3. It will take two size options: 1.3-inch and 1.5-inch, probably one for men and another for women. Unlike in other smartwatches currently available in the market that offer only one-size-fits-all unisex model.
4. A feature called "Healthbook" will help the user to keep a track on health-fitness related issues. Like during a workout session, iWatch will keep a track on several steps taken, heart-rate, temperature, sweat and hydration levels.
5. It will have more than 10 sensors to monitor health and fitness, WSJ said.
6. Professional athletes like Kobe Bryant have been tapped in by Apple to test the fitness capabilities of the iWatch, according to 9to5mac.
7. Apple has been hiring top fashion and luxury brand people like Patric Pruniaux, VP of sales at Tag Heuer and Ben Shaffer, who worked on Fuel Band at Nike, to work on their iWatch.
8. It has reportedly also hired many medical experts like Roy J.E.M. Raymann, an expert in sleep research, and Todd Whitehurst, hardware director at Senseonics, a company working on wearable glucose monitoring system.
9. iWatch can cost anywhere from $300 to $1000. Ming Chi Kuo reported on Macrumors, iWatch may cost more than $1000. With Samsung Gear Live and LG G watch coming for less than $300, it would be difficult for Apple to sell iWatches at higher price.
10. Initially, three to five million iWatches will be manufactured per month, according to Nikkie reports.
