Apple iWatch Will Be Released To The Market In October
The much-anticipated Apple iWatch will start mass production in July and will be released to the market in October, according to Reuters.
According to Reuters, the smart watch will come with a 2.5-inch slightly rectangular face. The face will reportedly bulge slightly from the band to form an arched shape. Reuters also reported that the Apple iWatch will have a touch interface and will be able to charge wirelessly.
Reuters also reported that the Apple iWatch will be able to independently perform some functions that will need a paired smart phone such as text messaging and voice chat. The Apple iWatch will be compatible with the iOS phone such as iPhone 5S and the much-rumoured iPhone 6.
The wire service also reported that the Apple iWatch is presently in the trial production at the main manufacturer Taiwan's Quanta Computer Inc. 2382.TW. Quanta accounted for at least 70 percent of the final assembly of Apple iWatch.
It is expected that within the first year of release in the market Apple will be able to ship 50 million units of Apple iWatch.
In addition, Reuters also cited that for the first batch of Apple iWatch mass production, the gadget's touch screen will be exclusively supplied by the LG Display Co. Ltd. Also, the smart gadget will reportedly have sensors to track the wearer's pulse. This feature will reportedly be supplied by the Singapore-based imaging and sensor maker Heptagon.
According to Apple Insider, Reuter's report on the Apple iWatch sensors aligned with the previous rumours that the smart gadget will focus on biometrics for health and fitness monitoring.
Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook already unveiled the HealthKit during the Keynote address of the 25th Worldwide Development Conference (WWDC) at Moscone West Convention Center, San Francisco, California. This HealthKit is said to be able to track health and fitness metrics such as the heart rate, weight, and even chronic medical conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes.
Given such, the built-in sensors in Apple iWatch will be one of the avenues for taking real-time data of the user which will be collaborated into the HealthKit.
According to Reuters, Apple, Quanta, LG Display, and Heptagon remained tight-lipped on the rumours surrounding the Apple iWatch. There is no mentioned also about the smart gadget's price but Mobile Syrup stated that Apple iWatch needs to be priced at around US$250 or less (AUD$266). That is, for the wearable gadget to be competitive against the market leaders Pebble and Samsung Gear 2.
