Apple may launch the 12-inch model of MacBook Air in the first quarter of 2016
Rumour mills are continuously producing news about the 2016 Apple MacBook Air. Earlier rumours suggested that the MacBook Air will come in two versions: a 13-inch model and 15-inch model.
It is speculated that the 2016 MacBook Air would come in one model and it will hit the market in the first quarter of next year, notes the Gospel Herald. Still, there wasn’t a word about a 12-inch model of the 2016 MacBook Air in the past.
Considering Apple’s sales records, it is less likely that the 2016 MacBook Air will be released in a single model. In addition, previous reports did not suggest anything on the specific variant of the device.
Looking back, the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus were released in September this year and there were rumours claiming that the smaller version of iPhone, dubbed as iPhone 6C will be released soon. Despite rumours and supposed leaked images this year, we didn’t see the launch of iPhone 6C which makes it highly unlikely that Apple would plan to launch only a 12-inch variant of the 2016 Apple MacBook Air.
It is anticipated that the 2016 MacBook Pro will be a powerful device and will come out with not less than 15-inches. According to earlier rumours, the Pro will be launched in June next year, three months after the release of 2016 MacBook Air.
Apple seems to have adopted this marketing strategy about the 2016 MacBook Air to not reduce the market of iPad Pro. iPad Pro has been labelled as a laplet (combination of a laptop and tablet) so the launch of a new notebook would diminish the sales of the new iPad.
However, Apple is yet to confirm the launch of 2016 MacBook Air and 2016 MacBook Pro along with iPad 3 next year.
It is worth noting that the Intel Skylake processors, which will be used in the device, is said to be available in the fourth quarter of 2015, so the 2016 MacBook Air may be released in March next year, according to Master Herald.
