Apple Oct 23 Event: 5 Things You Should Not Expect from the iPad Mini
Apple is all set for it October 23 event, during which the iPad mini is expected to be unveiled. It is easy to get carried away by the thrill of expectations but there are certain things you should not expect from the iPad mini.
5 Things You Should Not Expect from the iPad Mini
1. Retina Display. Most tech bloggers are not keeping their hopes up for a Retina Display on the small iPad. What rumours are saying is that iPad mini will have a 1024×768 display in a 7.85-inch screen, for a pixel density of 163ppi. In contrast, the new iPad's pixel density is 264ppi.
2. Under $300. Not that anyone is hopeful for a cheap iPad mini. But KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimated the build cost of an iPad mini is somewhere around $195 for a 16GB Wi-Fi only version, TechCrunch reported. Upon the analyst's study, Apple is likely to sell the basic most basic iPad mini version for $329. Meanwhile, 9to5Mac estimated the soon-to-be unveiled device will carry the price tags of $329, $429 and $529 for 16, 32 and 64GB Wi-Fi only versions.

3. 3G and LTE. Not all hope is lost, but there is a good chance the small iPad will come with only WiFi connectivity. The 3G and LTE connectivity could happen later on via upgraded (therefore more expensive) versions.
4. A6 processor. The small iPad may be a new edition device, but it does not necessarily call for the latest processor. At least not yet. Incidentally, rumours are consistent that the smaller Apple tablet will use only 512MB of RAM - just like the iPad 2.
5. iPad mini. Bear in mind that Apple gave a 4S instead of an anticipated iPhone 5 not too long ago. What the press has fondly called iPad mini may get a new name. iPad Jr is (hopefully) out of the question, but the name should be easy on the ears like "touch" or "air."
Questions will soon be answered. Rumours will be confirmed and tech "sources" will either fail or pass the information reliability test. Many of them were proven right when the Apple iPhone 5 was released, anyway.
