Apple Pulls Out iPhone 5 from Online Store; Carriers and Retailers Slash iPhone 5’s Price
Apple officially discontinued iPhone 5 and pulled it from online stores.
After a year, Apple no longer offers the iPhone 5, as it replaced it with the newly released iPhone 5C.
In order to exhaust the remaining stocks of iPhone 5, carriers and retailers are offering the iPhone 5 for a cheaper price.
US electronics retailer Best Buy is giving its consumers a minimum of $100 trade-in credit in exchange of old smartphones. The store offers handsets under AT&T, Sprint or Verizon with a 2-year activation.
This particular deal is great for customers who want to get rid of their old smartphones in exchange for the 1-year-old iPhone 5.
US Carriers like T-Mobile dropped the upfront payment for iPhone 5 from $149.99 to $99.99 and 24 equal monthly payments from $21 to $18.75. The carrier is also offering an overall price cut of $100 on both the 32 GB and 64 GB iPhone 5 models.
Usually, when Apple releases a new iPhone, it offers the previous iPhone for $99 with contract while the new one takes the $199 slot. However, this is not the case this year, as Apple released two new smartphones - the full-fledged iPhone 5S and low cost iPhone 5C.
The current iPhone line-up is composed of the iPhone 5S offered for $199, the iPhone 5C for $99 and the iPhone 4S that is offered for free. All prices come along with a 2-year contract.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 5C features a 4-inch retina display, dual core A6 chip processor and 8 MP rear camera. The handset is available in blue, green, yellow, white and red plastic casing.
The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C pre-orders started last Friday, September 13. The handsets will be available for sale on September 20.
