Apple Reducing iMac Inventory in Preparation for Haswell Models, Resellers Started Cutting Prices
Many Apple distributors and resellers started slashing prices on their current Apple inventory. In fact, primary channel partners of the tech giant have started offering discounts including customized iMacs. One thing is clear, Apple has been reducing the supply of such units to make way for new line of Haswell-based models.
New models are expected to come this fall. Can Apple finally get back up?
It has been quite a while since the world's once most valuable company released a series of products taking the market by storm. The long drought was enough to catch people's attention. This puts a pressure on the upcoming products.
Apple needs to step up its game as competitors like Samsung and Sony have been releasing devices denting the sales of Apple. Apple Insider reported that B&H will be offering 15 types of iMac configurations for a discounted price.
Last August 21, B&H has announced price slashes on different iMac configurations up to $150. It is important to note that configurations have not been discounted previously from what Apple sells them off. The configurations can also be found on other resellers though these distributors have chosen not to restock on the items in preparation for the upcoming and new inventory.
According to Apple Insider's report, resellers have not been stocking inventory for a couple of weeks already. Mac Price Guide also supports this trend emphasizing how primary distribution channels are all gearing up for a new Apple release.
It may be true after all this time.
Previously, MacMall, Amazon and Best Buy have all initiated discount sales earlier this August. All of these stores are offering the same type of four standard iMac retail configurations. Discounts given were between $100 to $150. Provided, the latest inventory management measures, analysts say that Apple is trying to get rid of the MacBook Pro surplus scare just like in January this year. The discounts serve as the start of the multi-week initiative effort to make sure iMac channels will barely have stocks when the new ones come out.
There is much hype going on about the release of the new Haswell-powered iMacs and MacBooks. Some reports say it is around late August or early September. Regardless, the market has been anticipating an Apple release for quite some time, all these moves are adding to the anticipation.
