Apple seemed to finally learned its lesson from the new iPad's incident earlier this year and will probably release a new iPhone compatible with the 4G/LTE connection in Australia.

Apple is reported to be working on the fastest wireless networks around the world, including in the Europe, Asia and - hopefully - Australia, as well as the USA.

Apple seemed to be missing out on the potential boost on iPhone sales after failing to support international frequencies of 4G/LTE connection. However, major rival Samsung Electronics has already announced plans to market a 4G version of its Galaxy S III smartphone suitable for use on the 1800MHz bandwidth used by Telstra and Optus Down Under, and has at least one tablet that is capable of global 4G connections.

Reports claimed that Telstra is worried that its gains in mobile profit margins could be at risk when the new version of the highly popular iPhone hits the shelves.

The release is expected to serve as stimulus for the Australian mobile industry amid concerns growth in handset subscriptions and revenues have peaked.

But Merrill Lynch analyst Sameer Chopra said the new iPhone could wipe between 3 per cent and 4 per cent off Telstra's mobile margins in the December half because of increased handset subsidy costs.

Analysis by Merrill Lynch shows that the past three iPhone upgrades created significant margin pressure for mobile carriers globally.

Early this year, Apple in Australia and in other countries dropped the branding of the iPad 3 as 4G capable and replaced it with the term "WiFi + Cellular" to avoid lawsuits from consumers. Apple offered refunds to consumers.

The change was brought by the complaints filed by consumers from Australia and UK claiming that the WiFi+4G feature of the new iPad does not work in the aforementioned countries. The revised ad of iPad 3 also comes with a disclaimer "This product supports very fast cellular networks. It is not compatible with current Australian 4G LTE networks and WiMAX networks."

The unveiling event is believed to be set on September 12. The device is speculated to go on sale on September 21. The launch happens to be when US carriers have scheduled vacation blackouts for employees. It seemed that the employees will need the strength to handle excited iPhone buyers.

For Australia, it is still unclear when Aussies can start pre-ordering the devices. However, Apple stores in Australia always have the same or close schedule with the US counterparts.
