Apple unveiled a series of new devices during its yearly iPhone event a month ago. It doesn’t look like all of the products launched actually became part of the company's line-up, however.

9to5Mac reported that the Cupertino-based tech giant has plans of adding a new 21.5-inch iMac that features sharper 4K resolution. According to the report, this tip came from "multiple, reliable sources."

That said, it’s highly likely this new computer’s first units will be seen in the tech market on October 13. Mass availability will reportedly take place at an unspecified date in November.

Although Apple's iMac line of desktop computers don’t get as much hype as the company's iPhones, they’re actually an essential part of the company's core. According to CNET, the iMac business has never stopped its growth, especially now that it’s being placed side-by-side with other desktops in the market that are reportedly more sluggish by comparison.

During Apple's special event last month, the stage was taken by new iPhone models -- the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus -- as well as the new high end 13-inch iPad Pro tablet. That said, the iMac took a back seat.

Considering Apple's newest OS X desktop software, El Capitan, is going to be out, the iMac is expected to get its solo time to shine. Despite the spotlight, iMac fans have been advised not to expect major changes to the computer’s design since Apple's efforts were focused only on improving the graphics card and the screen display.

With a pixel screen of 4,096 x 2,304, it looks like the iMac is going to be the best option for gaming and editing, especially with its enhanced graphics performance.

Amidst all the fanfare, Apple was recently trumped by Microsoft. According to Microsoft, its new high-end Windows 10-enabled laplet hybrid -- the Surface Book -- is twice as fast as Apple’s MacBook Pro.
