Apple's releases have been generating quite the buzz especially with analysts predicting big performances from the products. Increasingly, the announcements from Apple and surfacing leaks support the release of iPhone 6's two variants and the 2014 MacBook Pro. More importantly, new details about the iOS 7.1.1 arise.

Missing Pixel Dimension

Amidst the discussion about Apple iPhone 6's screen sizes, analysts and tipsters still wonder about the pixel dimensions of the devices according to Forbes. A look at Apple's pixel dimension history should provide an idea on what people can expect (via Slash Gear):

  • 3.5-inch, 960 x 640 pixels, 330PPI
  • 4-inch, 1136 x 640 pixels, 326PPI
  • 4.7-inch, 1334 x 750 pixels, 326PPI
  • 5.5-inch, 1920 x 1080 pixels, 401PPI

One of the assumptions for Apple's expected pixel dimension is that the company wanted developers to have an easier time transitioning to the new display size. According to MacRumors forum member pgiguere1, Apple can do well with a 3x display resolution transition. This is 1.5 times more than the Retina. The switch will be smoother compared to the transition between the previous model to the Retina technology.

Increasing the pixel dimensions three times will allow Apple to retain the 16:9 aspect ratio on the iPhone 6 from the iPhone 5 series. The pixels will be bumped up to 1704 x 960 pixels. The 4.7-inch resolution will be 416ppi while the 5.5-inch will have 365ppi.

iOS 7.1.1 JailBreak

According to 9to5Mac, a team of developers released the "Pangu" which is an untethered iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak. In its initial release, the application only work in Chinese and on Windows. Fortunately, the team pushed through with their promise releasing an English and Mac version. The program provides more than the standard desktop app. There were bug fixes introduced.

2014 MacBook Pro

According to reports, the upcoming 2014 MacBook Pro will run on Intel's Broadwell. As Apple wants to make sure it will be first company to feature the chips on its computer line, the release of the MacBook Pro will likely be around the launch of the Broadwell chips.
