Apple is all set for the iPad launch event on Oct 16 and it has already sent invitations to the media. The launch will take place at 10AM PT at the Apple's Town Hall auditorium, Cupertino, California. The text on the invitation reads, "It's been way too long."

According to Apple Insider, the Cupertino-based company is going to launch the iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3, and a 27-inch iMac with Retina Display. It is also expected to launch the OS X Yosemite, the new operating system edition for Mac. The source adds that Apple will also be debuting Apple Pay, the mobile payment service from Apple, which will be available on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Apple Insider highlights that the company is known to to launch new iPads during the month of October. Last year, Apple launched the iPad Air and the iPad Mini with Retina Display in October. Business Insider claims that the Oct 16 event won't be a major one as the new iPads will only feature minor upgrades from last year's models.

According to GSMArena, the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3 will be powered with Apple A8 64-bit processor along with M8 co-processor. It will also feature Touch ID fingerprint sensor and Apple Pay.

As International Business Times Australia reported yesterday, the Apple iPad Air 2 with a thickness of 7 mm will be slimmer than last year's iPad Air. Both iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3 are expected to be available in black and silver along with a new color variant of gold.

Meanwhile, the new iMac's 27-inch display is expected to support 5k resolution. If this is true, it will be the first ever attempt from Apple to provide ultra-high resolution on its AIO desktop PC, according to Apple Insider.

The OS X Yosemite was first unleashed during the WWDC event that took place this summer. GSMArena states that Beta 5 edition of the OS and Gold Master Candidate that has been built for developers have been seeded to the users. This probably indicates that the final release of the OS is around the corner, and the source claims that it may possibly happen on Oct 16.
