Apple Set to Deliver Enhanced Navigational App, Better Audio Capabilities on iPhone 6, iPhone 5S Release Date – New Patents
Two key improvements are likely to be packaged with Apple's upcoming iOS smartphone releases - the iPhone 5S that analysts said will be out by September and the iPhone 6 that will debut in early 2014.
As part of the killer features lumped with the reengineered iOS 7, Apple is upgrading the built-in Map application of the mobile operating system, likely fine-tuning its features with the navigational app Waze as the direct template, Apple Insider said in a report.
Waze is now a Google subsidiary, but Apple unsuccessfully tried to acquire the company. Not to be frustrated, the tech giant recently filed a new patent that would lead to a future system that allows vehicle drivers to access traffic information in real-time.
The application will employ data directly drawn from crowd-sourcing, which are inputs from app users that a central server processes and analyses for quick dispatches to guide travellers.
Other useful information that the application will serve are logjams, accidents, power outage and every possible factors that impede fast and safe travel. According to Apple, the system will then recommend alternate routes so users can escape from possible gridlocks.
Or if they still ended up stuck in a jam, they can at least rely on their iPhones to provide quality sound entertainment as two other patent filings from Apple revealed that the gadget will be equipped with a more advanced audio system, which can be enjoyed with the integrated speaker or a headset.
The first invention involves a new speaker design that Apple engineers would love to use on upcoming iPhone and iPad models, Patently Apple said in a report.
The distinct characteristic of the system is the inclusion of sound radiating surface (SRS) in the final assembly of iOS 7 devices, which would boost their "digital audio signal processing and audio content delivery."
With the planned audio driver in place, iPhone and iPad users are assured of getting richer sound experience during media playback moments.
But it they prefer to relish audio bliss in private, Apple has the answer too, Apple Insider said, via the upcoming "self-adjusting earbud headphones with noise cancellation technology."
This future Apple audio accessory is backed by new patent titled 'Electronic device and headset with speaker seal evaluation capabilities', according to the same Apple Insider report.
In the patent, "the self-calibrating earbud that can deliver enhanced audio reproduction over a wide variety of ear shapes and sizes." For further enjoyment, the ear-phone is capable of cancelling out noise, relying on "good earbud-to-ear seals to operate."
