An Apple concept store will open in Wellington, N.Z., to offer high-end technology products.

NZX-listed Renaissance is a known distributor of Apple products and will open a Yoobee showroom on Kent Terrace in Wellington before year's end.

The new Yoobee store will offer Apple products and high-end complementary kit such as photography equipment. The store will be transformed into a place where creativity explodes.

Renaissance's chief executive Richard Webb said 12 of its 13 variously named divisions, including tertiary digital design institution Natcoll, would be rebranded as Yoobee by mid-next year.

Its distribution business, which experienced a decline last year, lost the sole rights to distribute Apple products in New Zealand, would continue to be called Renaissance, partly to keep some distance between the many electronics retailers it supplies and its Yoobee retail stores, Webb said.

The showroom will be modeled after the store located at Auckland's Britomart.

The company will closed its current Yoobee store in Vivian Street. Yoobee also has another store located at Victoria University campus.

The company is encouraging everyone to join the Yoobee community, which includes ambassadors such as footwear designer Kathryn Wilson and musician Peter Ulrich.

Webb said more than 6,000 people have joined the Yoobee community. Members will receive invites and discounts for creatively focused events at retail outlets, such as courses on animation and film-making and social media conferences.
