Apple Unveils New 5th Generation of iPod Touch in iPhone 5 Launching Event
Aside from the Apple's flagship phone, the tech giant also introduced the latest generation of the company's music player, iPod Touch.
iPod is one of the revolutionary products of Apple that allowed Apple to transform into electronics or hardware manufacturer. After two years, Apple finally updated the iPod line.
Unlike its predecessors, the new iPod Touch looks more like the new iPod Nano than the new iPhone that only weighs 88 grams and is only 6.1mm thick.
The fifth generation of iPod Touch will come with amazing specs and features such as Siri, an A5 processor, an upgraded 5MP rear camera, the new Lightning connector, Siri, and the iPhone 5′s 4-inch widescreen retina display.
Moreover, it will get you 40 hours of music playback and eight hours of video. You'll even be able to use it to power your home theatre, with built-in 1080p mirroring to your TV via AirPlay.
The iPod Touch also got a makeover and will now come in five candy colors and sport a little knob for a wrist strap.
Pre-orders for the new iPod Touch will be taken on Apple's website from Friday, September 14. The 32GB model is priced at $329 in Australia, and the 64GB model will set you back $439.
Shipping of the new iPod Touch will commence on October and costs $300 for 32GB, which is a little bit pricey. Moreover, retailers will start stocking the iPod Touch in October. The previous generation iPod Touch will drop to $219 for the 16GB model and $279 for the 32GB model.
iPod Nano also joined the screen display revolution in Apple. It will sport a larger screen display and will be available in seven fun colors. In addition, the device will be equipped with Bluetooth and longer battery life. The new iPod Nano will cost $169 in Australia and will be released in October.
Lastly, iPod Shuffle will be available in five colors. The new 2GB iPod Shuffle will retail for $55 in Australia.
