From the previous neck to neck rivalry on mobile phones, patents, and tablets, the saga between the American multinational corporation Apple and the South Korean multinational conglomerate company Samsung now extends to the fingerprint technology on tablets.

According to an article from Sam Mobile, Samsung is set to put the fingerprint scanner from its Galaxy 5 into the rumored Galaxy Tab S. The technology hopes to use the tablet owner's fingerprints to unlock the device, transact mobile payments, and perform single sign-on technology on its tablet devices.

The fingerprint technology was also rumored to open up propriety profiles and contain support for multi-user fingerprint. With this technology, only the tablet owner will have all the capabilities while the other users are just limited to unlocking the device. The added twist on multiple-user fingerprint allows family members and prints can just swipe their fingerprints on the home button so they can also log in to the owner's tablet.

Leaks on the tablets specs mentioned that the Galaxy Tab S will come in 8.4-inch and a 10.5-inch with a 2,560 x 1,600 WQXGA AMOLED screen. Samsung has been using the AMOLED technology on its previous releases of tablets, digital cameras and smartphones due to high contrast levels and low power consumption. However, Samsung had stopped using the technology for the tablets and had opted instead for the LCD panel.

Moreover, it is also expected that the Galaxy Tab S will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Octa-core Exynos 5 (5420). It will reportedly come in four 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 cores, four 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 cores, 6-core ARM Mali-T628 GPU. For the camera, the tablet will have 8.0-megapixel back-end camera and a 2.1-megapixel (1920×1080) front facing camera. It will also have1080p full high definition video recording capability.

From the original plan of releasing three versions of the tablet which are supposedly WiFi, 3G, and LTE, it is reported that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S will only come with just the WiFi and LTE options.

It was reported that the Galaxy Tab S has been appearing in benchmark tests lately although there was no information yet on the gadget's release date.

On the other hand, it is widely expected the Apple's next generation iPad will also have the fingerprint technology which is present in its iPhone 5 mobile devices.

The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is just a few months away. It remains to be seen whether these new devices will be showcased in the event. Users awaiting news on the biometric technology on Apple iPad are advised to keep themselves posted.
