When Apple had unveiled the Apple Watch during the launch event of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, exact details on the technical specifications of the new smartwatch was not discussed. During the event, Apple had only concentrated on talking about the design and customization capabilities of the Apple Watch.

An investment research company named Cowen and Company has revealed that the Apple Watch will feature 512 MB RAM and also it will come with an internal storage capacity of 4 GB.

According to AppleInsider, the Apple Watch's 512 MB RAM will be provided by Samsung, Micron and Hynix. As far as 4 GB inbuilt storage is concerned, it will be provided by different NAND manufacturers.

The recently revealed Android Wear smartwatches like the Motorola Moto 360 and the Samsung Gear S also feature 512 MB RAM and 4 GB onboard memory. Timothy Arcuri from Cowen and Company claims that Apple may also manufacture an 8 GB internal storage variant of the Apple Watch.

According to Acruri, the Apple Watch may also feature a wireless chip which is similar to the one present inside the iPhone 5S. The smartwatch may not feature GPS functionality in a bid to save on the battery power of the device. IDT (Integrated Device Technology) is expected to offer a wireless charging feature for Apple Watch.

The NFC chip present inside the Apple Watch will allow users to use it to make payments at the payment terminals seamlessly. The NFC chip will come from companies like NXP and AMS.

GSMArena claims that the Apple Watch is one first smartwatches to come with a SoC that has been exclusively designed for it. Most of the other smartwatches feature SoCs that have been used on smartphones. The SoC that powers up the Apple Watch is the power efficient S1 SoC.

According to GSMArena, the Apple Watch will have to be charged every day. However, since Apple did reveal much about the battery life of the new smartwatch, the Cupertino company will be working on improving the battery performance of the Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch release date is expected to happen in the beginning months of 2015. The smartwatch from Apple will roll at an initial price tag of $349.
