Apple Watch price slashed by $100, sparks Apple Watch 2 release anticipation
Apple resellers including Best Buy, Target and B&H have slashed US$100 (AU$140) off several Apple Watch models. The 38mm Apple Watch Sport can now be purchased at US$249 (AU$347), while the 42mm model costs US$299 (AU$417).
Only third party retailers have slashed the price of the Apple Watch. The company is not offering any discounts in the Apple Stores. Shoppers who want to grab a discounted Apple Watch may head to B&H, Best Buy and Target.
The recent price cut has triggered the speculation of a possible launch of the Apple Watch 2. Retailers usually cut down prices of existing models of products prior to the launch of a successor. Recently, the Galaxy S6 has been massive discounted on Amazon and eBay, indicating the launch of its successor, the Galaxy S7 on Feb. 21 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016.

Apple is expected to launch its 4-inch iPhone 5se and the new iPad Air 3 at an event on March 15. There are rumours that the company may announce new software features and new Apple Watch band options for the Apple Watch at the same platform.
In January, Chinese technology media site Commercial Times claimed that Quanta will start mass production of Apple Watch 2 by end of the month, as reported by 9to5Mac. The report also states that the March event may see minor upgrades like inclusion of FaceTime camera and additions of add new health and sleep tracking sensors to the existing line of Apple Watch.
The new Apple Watch models will reportedly include a Space Black Watch with a Milanese Loop, a new range of NATO-style nylon straps and fresh Sport Band colours.
However, the next iteration of Apple Watch i s not expected to hit the market before fall 2016, according to a report in Ubergizmo. The next generation of Apple Watch would come with casing changes and major improvements. There is no confirmation on the Apple Watch release date.
