Apple Watch Vs. Pebble Time Vs. Samsung Gear
Wearable devices or smartwatches have now entered the market of mobile technology. With the different types and brands that are being advertised, potential buyers might have a hard time figuring out which one is purchase-worthy.
Those who would like to have their own smartwatch yet do not want to spend a fortune on it can buy Pebble Time. Its plastic variant only costs around $99, while its steel variant costs a little over $100.
It works with both iOS and Android, which means that connecting the device to some of today’s highly used smartphones will not be a problem. It will even vibrate once someone sends a message or calls the smartphone connected to it. Sadly, it does not have a microphone and speaker feature.
Plus, one advantage it has over its competitors is that its battery life can reach up to seven days, despite its always-on screen. However, it does not feature a touch screen, which means that it will have to be navigated by pressing its buttons. CNET has also reported that it has pretty limited pixel resolution, which is quite expected from its primitive black and white screen.
A separate report from CNET has stated that it is also 5 ATM waterproof, which makes it a perfect wearable device for swimmers and users who are too lazy to take off their watches before getting into the shower.
The Apple Watch, on the other hand, has the capability to run more apps than Pebble Time. it has a force-sensitive colored touch screen and a microphone and speaker, which means that it can be used for voice calling. It is also Wi-FI ready, as long as the smartphone connected to it is connected to Wi-Fi as well.
It features a heart rate monitor and may be used for contactless payments via Apple Pay. It has 6.2 GB of usable space, 2 GB of which has been allotted for music storage. Sadly, its battery life can only last up to a single day and it is not water-resistant. It has a starting price of $350 and can only be connected with recently released iPhone models.
The Samsung Gear S, which was released last year, is a combination of a smartwatch and a SIM card-enabled device. It can be used for taking calls and also for back and forth SMS messaging. Unfortunately, this particular wearable device is only Samsung-specific.
