Apple is no stranger to reports and predictions, especially with its upcoming products. The latest reports said Apple has a 13-inch iPad in the works. The tech giant reportedly planned to release the product by October 2014. Rumored to be a hybrid between iPad and MacBook Pro series, the iPad Pro will change how tablets are developed.

According to a source from Apple's Asia supply chain, the company has been working on a 12.9-inch iPad. Digitimes also reported it will launch around October 2014. Wall Street Journal published a similar report saying Apple was already testing a new product. The new product sported a screen "slightly less than 13 inches."

Reports also suggested Apple will be working with Taiwan-based PC manufacturer, Quanta Computer, to create the next set of iPads. Throughout the years, analysts noted Apple's affinity to work with Asian supply chain. The company has been working with suppliers from the region bringing from authenticity to its products.

However, analysts also thought Apple needs to come up with a more innovative line. The company's new products are reflective of its previous offerings. For instance, the newest iPhones have larger screens. The iPads have got smaller.

Based on the company's history, Apple was never to follow trends. However, it has experienced a slump once the company decided to put out refreshed lines. This means similar products with a few upgrades. If the company will go for the 13-inch iPad then it can be a possible breath of air. The company will veer away from its increasing focus on smaller screen tablets.

Tim Cook's Memo

Tim Cook, Apple's chief executive, issued a year-end memo to employees. The memo sparked even more interest about the company's plans for 2014.

"We have a lot to look forward to in 2014, including some big plans that we think customers are going to love," 9to5Mac quoted Tim Cook.

"I am extremely proud to stand alongside you as we put innovation to work serving humankind's deepest values and highest aspirations."

Cook did not divulge into details. However, many believe the company's head is referring to a number of devices to be released next year.
