Apple's iPhone 6 will get a better camera, a redesigned home button and a solid shell that protects the large-screen smartphone both from liquid intrusion and high falls, accidental or intentional, according to a newly published concept.

In a set of concept photos published by designer Arthur Reis on Flickr, the rumoured Apple phablet is dressed up in a familiar minimalist profile that highlights the preferences of the late Steve Jobs, giving a realistic impression of what the handset would be.

Yet Mr Reis deviated a little from the iPhone template as his design favours a home button that doubles as a track pad. His take on the iconic iPhone feature will allow users to tap anywhere on the bottom portion of the device, and the Home menu is pulled up on the screen, believed to stretch 4.8-inch.

The whole iPhone make-up envisioned by Mr Reis is basically truthful to Apple's minimal design philosophy - slim, sleek and solid. The latter, he made sure, stands on a rock foundation as the iPhone 6 will emerge from a 12-metre fall largely unscathed - no cracked screen and no scratches.

And more actually as iPhone 6, in the mind of Mr Reis, will resist even the most basic element found on earth - water. Nothing impossible or original on this respect as the Sony Xperia Z already broached the feature in the earlier part of 2013.

But Apple, of course, can push the envelope further and surpass what Sony had introduced, which the tech giant is actually good at. In case Tim Cook will take a serious look on Mr Reis's renders, do we get to see future iPhones that can be water-submerged deeper and in longer duration?

Leaving that for now, the new iPhone 6 concept packs a 12MP main cam snapper with a f/1.8 aperture, which is not exactly jaw-dropping as Samsung's Galaxy S4 is now on 13MP while the upcoming Galaxy Note is rumoured to get as high as 16MP.

Maybe Mr Reis subscribes to the notion that higher megapixels do not make a topnotch smartphone camera, so beyond the sensor, there are probably more to get from the iPhone camera features.
