Apple’s new OS X 10.7 already being tested
The Mac OS X 10.7 Lion will soon be roaring at Mac users according to a report in Australian MacWorld. The new OS is already being tested internally and Apple is nearly ready to launch the Lion. There are even rumors that Apple will unveil its next generation OS at the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco on June 6-10.
Apple had already issued a third Developer Preview a couple of weeks ago with the Reading List function enabled. The Reading List is a function that is like the iOS app Instapaper and heavily hints that the new OS will be a mixture of OS X and iOS. Other new features previewed were new wallpapers, new graphic elements and new boot animation.
A report from the BusinessInsider took a look at what other features users could look forward to in the Lion. A few mentions in the OS X's code about a "Find My Mac" feature which is another iOS-like app that will enable users to track, send messages and remote wipe a stolen or lost computer. There are also hints that OS X Lion will have a similar service to Amazon's Cloud Player that will allow users to store and share their music online. There are also hints that the Lion will be getting a Launchpad instead of the usual dashboard. The Launchpad will be Lion's organizer for apps downloaded from the App Store.
There are also mentions that you can back-up your hard drive with the Local Snapshot and that you can log in remotely using your Mac ID. Migration assistant will let you sync with your old Mac to transfer files, settings, apps and more. Spotlight will also be getting a nifty upgrade that will allow users to preview documents before opening them.
