Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will be banned in their Premier League clash against Chelsea after showing his "dirty finger" to Manchester City fans.

Emotions got the better out of the 21-year-old following the Gunners' 6-3 defeat on Saturday.

The FA will cite the England international with improper conduct, leaving him on the sidelines as Arsenal aim to hold on to the top-spot of the Premier League table.

The FA is expecting referee Martin Atkinson to file the official match report today. Even without indicating the incident in the report, the FA can still act on the matter on its own initiative.

Arsenal mentor Arsene Wenger stated that he did not personally witness the incident, but acknowledged that he may have to accept the penalty, should it be proved true.

"If he did it and he's banned, we'll have to accept it," Wenger told The Mirror.
