Asus Releases Quad-Core MemoPad Smart 10: Three Reasons this Android Tablet is a Winner
Asus unveiled the MemoPad 10 recently at the IFA 2013 in Berlin. As the name implies, the device is 10-inch, offering extra screen space for better viewing. Ideal for games, movies, apps and Web browsing.
There are several reasons why consumers might want to check out the full-sized Memo Pad 10 tablets over phablets like Samsung's Galaxy Note 3.
Asus is on a roll. The company released a number of products at the IFA in Berlin including a new ultrabook and a range of tablets. As the recognized maker of the first and second generation Nexus 7, people expect a lot from the company. The Memo Pad 10 is another proof that Asus can deliver.
Hardware
Memo Pad 10 comes with a 10-inch screen on 1280 x 800 display resolution. It also includes in-plane switching, offering a bright and crystal-clear display. The size of the screen ensures enough space for entertainment and apps and the fast response time of the touchscreen display is impressive.
The latest tablet from Asus is 127mm across. It weighs 350g. Despite a size a little too large for the standard jeans pocket, Memo Pad remains one of the lightest and most portable device out in the market. The back features a glossy plastic cover, available in the folowing colours: hot pink, gray and white.
The Memo Pad 10 runs on a 1.6GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. It uses a 3,950mAh battery offering up to 9 hours of battery life.
Camera
The device features a 5-megapixel camera on the back while the front camera shoots at 1.2 megapixels. The rear camera can capture 720p high-definition videos. Asus only offers an 8GB storage though users can expand the memory through its SDXC memory card slot.
Software and Performance
The tablet runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which is a bit of a downside as it is not the latest. However, it should be noted that quite a number of tablets and phones are also starting on the same platform.
The idea behind a 10-inch tablet is to provide home screens where users can create convenient shortcuts for their apps. The screen and interface allows people to choose which widgets and apps should be most easily accessible for theier enjoyment and productivity.
For example, a person can change settings to ensure they can check messages, news or the weather without opening the app already.
Other excellent features include quick launcher and access or apps. Users only need to swipe from top to bottom. Google Play app store also provides thousands of programs to choose from.
