Asus ZenWatch To Release In November In Taiwan, Chooses To Sell Only 300 Units
The Asus ZenWatch was unwrapped at the IFA 2014 event, which was held in Berlin in September. When the Asus ZenWatch was announced, other tech giants also revealed their smartwatches. LG G Watch R, Motorola Moto 360, and Samsung Gear S were some of the smartwatches unveiled at the IFA 2014.
According to PhoneArena, the Asus ZenWatch is close at hand as it is expected to hit store shelves in the coming month. The source adds that the Taiwanese tech giant will be selling only 300 units of Asus ZenWatch and will be only launched in its home country, Taiwan.
The reason as to why the company has decided to sell less number of units is not known. PhoneArena claims that the company may not want to quickly launch the Asus ZenWatch to Western markets.
Asus ZenWatch has a sleek appeal, thanks to the square-shaped display with curved design. The gadget is powered by a Snapdragon 400 processor that offers a clocking speed of 1.2 GHz. It is coupled with 512 MB RAM and comes with an internal storage capacity of 4 GB.
The curved AMOLED display screen is 1.63-inch and supports a display resolution of 320 x 320 pixels, with a pixel density of 278 ppi. The display is safeguarded by Gorilla Glass 3. As of now, nothing is known about the battery life of the device.
The elegant-looking smartwatch from Asus is running n Android Wear OS. It is overlaid with the proprietary Zen UI from Asus. Meanwhile, Google had proclaimed that it does not want manufacturers to use their custom skins on top of the Android Wear OS. Smartwatching feels that the Zen UI will present inside Asus ZenWatch will be a light skin.
Recently, Asus penetrated the smartphone market by launching few smartphones with the "Zenfone" brand name. Zenfone smartphones not only come with good features but also they carry an affordable price tag. The same is expected from the Asus ZenWatch. Asus has not made any announcement on the price of the ZenWatch.
