AT&T Halts Samsung Galaxy S4 4.3 Jelly Bean Update
The Samsung Galaxy S4 4.3 Jelly Bean update rollout is being halted by AT&T, the biggest network in America.
AT&T along with Samsung is currently looking into the issues in the latest build of the 4.3 Jelly bean update. However, the companies did not reveal whether the update will continue to roll or it will be pulled indefinitely or if the companies will jump into releasing the Android 4.4 KitKat OS update.
The update started rolling out last week for AT&T users. The new software was available over-the-air update and is 719MB in size. Many AT&T Galaxy S4 users already downloaded and installed the update to their handsets.
But various reports revealed that users complained problems with wifi and cellular connections as well as a few random bugs. Samsung smartphone users reported that their handsets have crashed, frozen or even developed battery problems after downloading the latest software update.
It is still undetermined whether the problems are just experienced in AT&T Galaxy S4 handsets. The update has the build number of JSS15J.1337UCUEMJ9 and can be downloaded by simply checking for software updates in the Settings menu. Android 4.3 has already rolled out for other major American carriers such as Sprint, Verizon and U.S. Cellular. T-Mobile is the only network which has not released it yet.
This is not the first time that Samsung pulled the 4.3 Jelly Bean update. Last week, IBTimes AU reported that Samsung pulled the 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the international versions of Galaxy S3. However, Samsung assured that it is looking into the issues of the update is currently working on a fix. However, the release of the said fix is still unconfirmed.
The slow roll out and problems and issues in the recent 4.3 Jelly Bean update make dozens of users furious. Many consumers expressed their desire to switch smartphones.
The 4.3 Jelly Bean update is expected to bring support for the new Galaxy Gear smartwatch, Samsung's Knox secure work environment, and a slew of under the hood improvements, such as support for OpenGL3.0, TRIM command, better RAM management, and enhancements to Samsung's proprietary apps. The smartphone will also receive a slight speed boost.
