Aussie ICT Students Selected For Huawei’s ‘Seeds For The Future’ Program
Huawei Australia and Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) announced the names of select students to participate in Huawei’s global undergraduate program: Seeds for the Future, according to reports.
According to a report on Ausdroid, under the Seeds of the Future program, selected students from ATN member universities get an opportunity to interact with Huawei staff at their headquarters in Shenzen China, where they get an exposure about emerging technologies as well as products and solutions. The students will also visit the headquarters, Research and Development facilities and will also visit Beijing to spend a week at the Beijing Language and Cultural University, reports Ausdroid.
The selected students are from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Curtin University, University of South Australia, University of Technology Sydney, Queensland University of Technology and Australian National University, reports IT Wire.
The selected students have secured tertiary rankings which place them in the top five percent of the nation when entered into their bachelors’ degrees. As per Huawei, besides academic merit, selected candidates also showed genuine interest in the ICT industry and a desire to share their knowledge and experience with others, according to the IT Wire report.
The students selected to attend the global undergraduate program include, Jesse Bartlett and Andrew Lau (from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology); Jerome De Vera and Cameron Arthur (from University of South Australia); Lachlan Gepp and Leon Pearce (from Queensland University of Technology); Andy Go and James Mangos (from University of Technology Sydney); Troy Burgess and Jason Brown (from Curtin University); Vincent Au, Jack Henderson and Dmitry Brizhinev from (Australian National University), reports IT Wire.
Huawei’s Seeds for the Future Undergraduate Program is a global initiative and has been operating successfully in U.K., France, UAE, Italy and Spain since 2008 and till date thousands of students from 35 countries and more than 100 universities have participated in the program. ATN and Huawei Australia announced a 3-year partnership to select 30 students from ATN’s member network, earlier this year, reported IT Wire.
