Australia is set to observe its annual Australia Day on Jan. 26 and the country is already decked up to celebrate its anniversary day.

Australia Day has a great significance in the history of the country as it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales. Australians celebrate the diverse culture of the nation on this day by holding family gatherings, picnics and barbecues.

The day will be kick started with the Kimba Australia Day Breakfast, which will be organized at the Central Park, Kimba, South Australia. The guests can enjoy the most delectable breakfast at 9.30am and presentations will commence at the venue at 11.00am.

Other events include - Nillumbik Australia Day celebrations in Eltham, Victoria, Griffith Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony in New South Wales and 2016 Australia Day – Avenel amongst others.

This public holiday is marked with hundreds of small and large events throughout the country. One of the key highlights of the event can be witnessed at the Sydney Harbour, which is abuzz with the Australia Day Harbour Parade. In addition to this, several concerts are organized in the country to add to the holiday spirit.

The most happening cities of Australia – Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth – serve as a wonderful host to all its guests and shows the real beauty of the country. Fireworks, food and drinks, all flow and are shared in unbelievable quantities on this day.

Amidst the celebrations, it is Sydney Opera House that is drenched in the true colors of festivities. This year too the Sydney Opera House will present a platform for the “finest musical exports of the world.” The Australia Day 2016 event will be a joint venture of NSW Government and Destination NSW.

The best performers of the country, including bigwigs like Jessica Mauboy, Justice Crew, Kate Ceberano, Thirsty Merc, Bachelor Girl, Cyrus and Roy & H.G. are set to entertain the audience at the Sydney Opera House on Jan. 26.

However, this year the festival would have witnessed a major change as several cancellation petitions flooded in over the Australia Day Skyworks. The latest update about the Skyworks event is that the Perth Lord Mayor has dismissed the petitions by saying that doing so would not lead to significant savings for bushfire victims. Had the petition been passed, the funds raised from the savings would have been used for the welfare of Waroona bushfires victims.

Just when the Aussies are gearing up to celebrate Australia Day 2016 with great enthusiasm, the Australia Day Lamb 2016 “Operation Boomerang” has caught the fantasy of the people worldwide.
