Australia welcomes UberEATS
UberEATS, the food delivery service of Uber, has started its operations in Australia. Melbourne is the first Australian city to start the service, which will take on other existing food delivery services like Deliveroo and MenuLog.
In Melbourne, Uber has teamed up with 80 local restaurants including Super Normal, Gazi, Pidapipo, Serotonin and Jimmy Grants.
Users can simply download the UberEATS app and start placing orders. Initially, the delivery service will be free. Services are open for seven days a week from 11am to 10pm.
“Melbourne is the ultimate foodie city, and UberEATS enables us to help more people access the city’s great food from top restaurants in their suburb and beyond,” said Simon Rossi, general manager at UberEATS Australia.
“Our goal is to offer people what they want to eat, when they want to eat, in the quickest time possible,” added Rossi in a press release.
Last month, Uber launched its separate UberEATS app for both iOS and Android in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Toronto.
Earlier Uber’s food delivery and ride-sharing service shared the same app. The company has now decided to expand its services and launched a separate platform for UberEATS.
Melbourne has become the third international city in the world to have access to the standalone UberEATS app.
“We learned quickly that requesting a ride and ordering a meal are two very different experiences,” Uber mentioned in a press note.
UberEATS is also available in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, New York, Paris, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
“With the launch of the UberEATS app, we’re providing an experience completely tailored to food to help you get that perfect meal,” Jason Droege, Head of UberEVERYTHING.
