Australian actress Margot Robbie pleads for support in feeding starving children in the Philippines
Margot Robbie has urged her fans and the public to donate to help feed hungry children in the Philippines. The actress took to social media to ask for help while working on her new film “Tarzan” in the country.
The Australian actress shared a photo on her Instagram page showing her smiling with a group of children from the Philippines. Taking some time off from filming “Tarzan,” Robbie lent her support for the “Rise Above” foundation and volunteered to feed the children.
The actress wrote a message of hope along with her photo, asking her fans to help the charity in achieving its goal of alleviating the harsh living conditions of impoverished children of the Philippines.
“If you visit the #philippines I IMPLORE you to do this! £100 feeds 400 kids. Or simply donate online www.riseabove-cebu.org and someone can do the cooking for you,” Robbie captioned her Instagram snap.
Her photo has since received over fifty-eight thousand likes since it was shared on Saturday. It also received 403 comments, mostly from fans who complimented and praised the actress for her humility and show of goodwill for the children and the “Rise Above” foundation.
One fan named dmsgram_ wrote, "Thanks a lot for doing this! So much love!" Another Instagram user named eatincake@priortojuly23 said, “omg i luv this philanthropic queen.”
Robbie also seemed to have enjoyed her stay in the Philippines. The actress, who will play Jane Porter in the “Tarzan” remake, shared a video on her Instagram while vacationing in the Philippine island of Bohol. The actress got into character and swung from a rope to enjoy a dip in one of the island’s tourist destinations, the Loboc River. Robbie captioned her clip with the hash tags #bohol and #philippines.
According to the Philippine entertainment news site Spot, the actress also visited the famous Chocolate Hills in Bohol. Some fans were able to post photos of Robbie at the scenery’s viewing deck.
Robbie is set to appear as Harley Quinn in the DC comic book adaptation of “Suicide Squid.” The film is slated for a U.S. release on Aug. 5, 2016, a month after “Tarzan” plays in theatres on July 1.
