It’s going to be a great fight between the “biggest movie of the year” and “biggest fight of the year" on May 1st. Marvel Studios has reportedly no plans of delaying the release date of the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” even if it could come head to head with the boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, dubbed as the “Fight of the Century.”

TMZ reports that Marvel Studios is confident that “Avengers 2" would be able to hold its own on the opening date of May 1, notwithstanding the fact that the “biggest fight of the century” between Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. stands to be the event of the day. The global boxing event is expected to rake in at least $300 million, and yet Marvel is not intimidated. According to the studio, the movie will push through with the May 1st opening regardless if it could risk its profits on its firs Saturday.

Those who cannot wait to see “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” however, and cannot wait until May 1, could go to India, Hollywood Reporter said. This is because “Avengers 2” would not open first in the U.S., even if it features Captain America. It would open in India first on April 24, a full week ahead of the U.S. release.

Hollywood Reporter said that Walt Disney India plans to give “Avengers 2” the grandest release ever for a Hollywood movie shown in India. The film will not only be shown in English; rather, it would be dubbed in top regional languages used in India such as Hindi, Tamil and Telegu.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao is expected to smash all sorts of boxing records currently existing, from pay-per-view sales to crowd turnout at the MGM Grand Garden. This is why Dan Rafael of ESPN Boxing labelled it as the biggest fight since the original fight of the century in 1971, which featured the boxing match between Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali in 1971.

It remains to be seen how “Avengers: Age of Ultron” would fare, competing with this boxing match for crowd turnout. The “Avengers” movie in 2012 became the third highest-grossing film of all time on that year, and many are banking that “Avengers 2” could surpass what the first movie achieved.
